Walk by Faith: A Worcester Church Ministry That’s Changing Lives One Step at a Time

There’s something sacred about walking—something deeply human. You put one foot in front of the other, and somehow your mind clears, your heart opens, and conversations happen more easily than they ever could transpire while sitting in a pew or a church boardroom.
This is at the heart of “Walk by Faith,” a new ministry that’s quietly blossoming at Worcester Seventh-day Adventist Church. It began with a simple idea inspired and organized by Sherine Brown and the health ministries team: Why not invite people to walk together on Sunday mornings?
What started as a casual health activity has grown into something far more meaningful. Every Sunday, a group meets to walk around the city streets, by the lake, or through wooded trails. Sometimes they plan a full day together where they eat first then head off for a refreshing walk. No matter where they walk, something special happens when they start moving together.
People talk--not just about the weather but real talk about struggles, prayers, joys, and doubts. People share stories of answered prayer and testimonies of how God opened a door just in time. Someone has quietly confessed, “It’s been years since I’ve felt close to God,” and right there on the path, grace shows up.
And yes, there’s food involved! After the walk, they often gather under a gazebo or in a shady park to share watermelon slices, fresh oranges, mangoes, and juice. You can hear the kind of laughter that only happens when people feel safe and included.
The kids play, the adults unwind, and people share their week like a family around the table. For some, this is their first real taste of community in a long time. For others, it’s become a spiritual rhythm—part of their weekly walk with God.
For the Worcester church, this isn’t a program, it’s a heartbeat. It’s steady, non-threatening, natural, and growing. Every week, someone new joins—sometimes a family member of a church member, a neighbor, or someone just passing by.
Worcester church members don’t preach at them. They simply walk with them, listen, and love them. They share stories, not sermons. In that safe space, faith takes root.
“If you’re tired, curious, lonely, or just want to be around kind people who care—come walk with us,” invites the Worcester church health ministries team and walking group. “We don’t care how fast you walk, what shoes you wear, or if you’ve been to church in a while. This is for everyone. Bring your questions, your sneakers, and your story. You don’t have to walk alone.”
