Jesus - Our Refuge

Dear Church Family:

It seems like every day brings more tragic and heartbreaking news from across our country and the world.  Wars, assassinations, mass shootings, and increased polarization in society dominate social media and news cycles.  These realities can weigh us down and cast a dark pall over our daily lives and rob us of a sense of peace and certainty for the future.

Family, remember you belong to Jesus.  You are a citizen of heaven and as we walk with Him, lean on Him, He promises that light will conquer darkness and our world, though broken and riddled with sin, will soon beat with “one pulse of harmony and gladness” throughout all of creation. (White, GC. 678)

In the meantime, as followers of Jesus, let us in word and deed support those who are oppressed.  Heal and care for those who are hurting - irrespective of their background, creed or color.  Let us forgive those who hurt us.  Let us seek forgiveness from those we have wronged, and let our words and actions share a message of hope and love that reflects the presence of the One who dwells within us.

Ellen White reminds us that “when the tempest of temptation gathers, and the flash of lightning and the roar of thunder announce the coming storm, we must keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus. Amid the storm and tempest, He is our refuge. His grace is sufficient; His power enables us to overcome.” (DA 336)

Together, let us always, yes - always, keep our eyes on Jesus, who is our present help and constant hope. (Heb. 12:1-2)
