Impact Providence 2026: A Day of Hope, Unity, and Compassion in Providence

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, the parking lot of Grace and Glory Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 1196 Eddy Street, Providence, Rhode Island, became a place where faith was transformed into action. As part of the Impact Providence 2026 initiatives, the Southern New England Conference Adventist Community Services (SNEC ACS) led the implementation of a major community outreach program designed to demonstrate Christ’s love through practical service.

The Providence Community Giveaway Outreach was created to provide meaningful assistance to individuals and families in need while building lasting relationships within the community. Through the distribution of clothing, food, hygiene supplies, household items, health support, prayer ministry, and spiritual resources, churches throughout the Rhode Island/Southeastern Massachusetts (RISEMA) region united to share hope, dignity, and encouragement.

The success of this initiative was the result of months of prayer, planning, and collaboration. SNEC ACS worked closely with RISEMA pastors, local church leaders, ministry coordinators, and volunteers through multiple planning meetings to establish a shared vision, coordinate responsibilities, and prepare every aspect of the outreach. This collective effort demonstrated the strength of the church when united around a common mission of service.

Originally scheduled for April 26, 2026, at a public location in downtown Providence, the event encountered an unexpected challenge when authorization to use the venue was withdrawn shortly before the scheduled date. However, God transformed this obstacle into an opportunity by allowing the outreach to be relocated to Grace and Glory Seventh-day Adventist Church. The new location provided an even greater opportunity for the church to welcome the community and demonstrate ministry through loving, caring, serving, and impacting lives.

A key element in the success of the outreach was the partnership with God Provides Ministries International Inc. Under the leadership of its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Ochieng, the organization provided the complete inventory of donated clothing, household goods, hygiene products, and other essential items distributed during the event.

Mr. Ochieng, together with his team of truck drivers and volunteers, played a vital role in coordinating the transportation, delivery, and preparation of all donated materials. Their generosity, dedication, and professionalism transformed thousands of donated items into tangible expressions of Christian compassion, allowing SNEC ACS and its ministry partners to effectively serve the Providence community.

The event also highlighted the unity of the RISEMA churches. Pastors, church leaders, and volunteers wearing their yellow WE CARE vests served together as one team, demonstrating that ministry is most powerful when churches work collectively. Approximately 200 volunteers from across the region participated in the outreach, working

together to provide services, distribute resources, and create a welcoming environment for the community. Through their combined efforts, an estimated 1,000 individuals and families were served, receiving not only practical assistance but also encouragement, prayer, and a personal experience of Christ’s love.

The Southern New England Conference administration also participated directly in the outreach. President Dr. Edgardo Herrera, Executive Secretary Dr. John K Amoah, Treasurer Elder Joshua Tyman, Vice President Pastor Alex Palmeira, and Ministerial Director Pastor Kenroy Malcolm joined volunteers in serving the community, demonstrating servant leadership in action.

The outreach further strengthened relationships with local government leaders. The Governor of Rhode Island, a State Senator, the Mayor of Providence, and a Providence City Council member visited the event, witnessed the impact of the initiative, and expressed support for the church’s commitment to community service. These connections created opportunities for future collaboration with local partners.

Special appreciation is extended to Joseph Ochieng and the entire God Provides Ministries International Inc. team; the tireless Pastor Brian Gonzalez and his district; Pastor Yeison and his district; Pastor Appiah and his district, especially Brother Larry and the medical team; Pastor Lache and his district; Pastor Sierra, RISEMA Coordinator, and his district; Pastor Marcos and his district; and all RISEMA pastors, leaders, and volunteers who contributed to the success of this initiative.

Recognition is also given to the Medical Cadet Corps and Pathfinder members for security support, the SNEC Communication Team, Brother Mark Rollins, Brother Giovanni, the participating vendors, and the Lincoln Food Team for their valuable contributions. Special thanks are extended to Jessica, SNEC Deaf Ministry Coordinator, and her dedicated team for their important ministry of inclusion and accessibility, ensuring that members of the Deaf community were welcomed, supported, and able to participate fully in this outreach. Appreciation is also expressed to the barbers and hairdressers who generously donated their time and skills by providing personal care services, adding another meaningful dimension to the holistic ministry offered during the event.

Impact Providence 2026 was more than a giveaway event—it was a testimony of unity, compassion, and mission. Through the combined efforts of churches, community partners, and volunteers, the Providence community experienced the love of Christ in a practical and meaningful way.
