Custodian/Kitchen Assistant

10-month PT/Hourly (25 hours/week and 40 hours/week for summer camp)

Job Summary
Maintains a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout the Camp Winnekeag facilities. Assists in the kitchen as needed to support group food service, including the summer camp program. This position contributes to the mission and ministry of the camp by helping create a welcoming and well-cared-for environment for all guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Custodial
• Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of lodging, meeting spaces, restrooms and common areas.
• Launder linens, towels, and other items used in guestrooms and cleaning operations.
• Maintain cleaning supply stock and ensure readiness for upcoming user groups.

Food Service
• Assist in the kitchen as needed for group service.
• Maintain current ServSafe Manager Certification.

Ensure a healthy and safe camp environment for workers and guests.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
• Report needed repairs and pest issues immediately to the Facilities Manager.
• Remain up to date with all emergency procedures.
• Maintain current First Aid & CPR certifications.
• Maintain current and good standing with Verified Volunteer, SORI (Sex Offenders Registry Information) and Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI), or other child protection/background check requirements.

Fiscal Responsibilities
• Work with the Camp Ministries Director to operate with established budgetary guidelines.

Assist in other reasonable duties as directed by the Camp Ministries Director.

Qualifications & Preferences
• Must have a passion for ministry and display a spirit of harmony with the mission and goals of the Southern New England Conference/Camp Winnekeag and the mission and practices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a solid driving record.
• Must accept a flexible work schedule that includes weekends and may at times include holidays.
• Must be able to relate positively and effectively with the public and church entities.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills (collaboration, conflict resolution, communication) and demonstrate the ability to be a team-player and work in a team environment.
• ServSafe Manager Certification or willingness to acquire within three months of employment.

Physical Aspects of the Job
• Drive and operate camp vehicles for town runs.
• Have the necessary physical strength to carry out food & guest services responsibilities, including standing/walking for extended periods of time (60 minutes or more), sitting, bending, reaching, and lifting and carrying 50 lbs.
• Must have the visual ability to evaluate a job.
• Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and facilities and camper and staff behavior.

Travel Expectation
• 0 to 5% - Travel is not regularly required for this position. Minimal local travel may be needed for supplies with a camp vehicle.
