Women's Retreat Report
.

Sabbath morning November 1, 2008 found 140 women from the Southern New England Conference converging on North Dighton, Massachusetts for a One Day Women’s Retreat. The retreat featured the music and wisdom of Jennifer Jill Schwizer and delicious food created by Tina Shorey and Elizabeth Timmons.  The day was finished with a concert by Jennifer Jill at the Taunton Church.

The retreat was sponsored by the Women’s Ministry Department of the SNEC under the leadership of Alice Jacobson. The Women’s Ministry Organizing Committee oversaw the entire program.  The program took place in the Friendship Hall of the North Dighton Community Church.  The Center is next door to the church which is an old New England style white steeple clad church with pew boxes.  The church is well over 300 years old but beautifully restored.  Prayer groups and testimonials took place in the church while the lectures and meals were presented in the community center.

The day started with singing and prayer.  The lectures on Women of Word were presented by Jennifer Jill Schwizer, punctuated by her music. Jennifer is a professional counselor, and has excellent insight into family issues, especially issues relevant to women.  She is well known for her presentations, books, and music.  She grew up in the Taunton area of Massachusetts.  Her combination of spiritual insight, humor and loving warmth made for a beautiful day.

The meals were lovingly prepared by Tina and Elizabeth with the help of the young ladies of the local churches. The beautiful presentation of the food was only exceeded by its wonderful taste.   The lunch was delightful but the afternoon tea had the women who attended in awe.  Elizabeth and Tina with their entourage of young helpers provided a gastronomical event which included delightful finger sandwiches, gourmet teas and stunning desserts all served on antique china and exquisitely decorated tables.

After tea the venue changed to the Taunton SDA Church where Jennifer presented a concert of her own music.  Her voice and guitar blended to praise God.  This part of the day was open to all who wanted to come, and was a fitting conclusion of a spiritually refreshing day.

Special thanks go out to all those who helped to make this a special day, to all those who dedicated a day to come and be blessed, and to the Conference Office for their unending support.
